Our Vision
NAARRI envisions an India (and the entire World) where everyone enjoys a good quality of life with general well-being and without sorrow through judicious application of radioisotopes and radiation technology.
This is based on the general Indian philosophy as written thousands of years ago as a shloka in the Atharva Veda –
Sarve bhavantu sukhinah
Sarve bhavantu niramayah
Sarve bhadrani Pashyantu
Ma kashchid dukkha bhagbhavet
This translates as, “May all be happy and free of debilitation, May all see goodness without being victims of sorrow”.
About Us
The National Association for Application of Radioisotopes and Radiation in Industry (NAARRI) was founded in 1976, with an objective of being an effective interface between the Department of Atomic Energy and the users of radioisotopes and radiation technology.
During the last almost 50 years, the association has grown from strength to strength and has earned a unique place not only in India but in the Asia Pacific region as a leading organization devoted to the promotion of applications of radioisotopes and radiation. It has more than 1800 life members and 50 institutional members.
Our Mission
NAARRI’s mission is to convert its vision into reality by promoting deployment of radioisotope and radiation technologies for the general welfare and upliftment of the lives of our citizens (and that of the entire world).
The areas of application include health-care and well-being, plentiful production and supply of food with minimum wastage, good quality safe water resources in sufficient quantity, smooth running industry, clean and pollution free environment.

National Association for Application of Radioisotopes and Radiation in Industry
The National Association for Application of Radioisotopes and Radiation in Industry (NAARRI) was founded in 1976, with an objective of being an effective interface between the Department of Atomic Energy and the users of radioisotopes and radiation technology. Since its inception, it has been in the forefront in promoting the peaceful uses of Atomic Energy and programmes aimed at promoting applications of radioisotopes and radiation.
During the last 50 years, the association has grown from strength to strength and has earned a unique place not only in India but in Asia Pacific region as a leading organization devoted to the promotion of applications of radioisotopes and radiation.
In pursuance NAARRI has been organising training courses for industrial isotope radiography, management induction programmes designed to suit specific industrial sectors, programmes aimed at radiation safety objectives and practices, regular workshops, seminars, National and International Conferences on subjects of topical interest. NAARRI has also undertaken a programme of creating awareness among the general public, university students and faculty members, research organisations, media etc. to disseminate the latest information on current and potential applications of radioisotopes and radiation, and also to dispel the unfounded fear and apprehensions from the minds of the people about radiation.
